On Saturdays mornings, Glen likes to take a drive to get out of the house. This day we drove to Smithfield, Va. and the surrounding areas. It is a great way to spend time together, eventhough, he spends alot of time trying to be funny. Did you notice the bunny ears in my selfie?

It was a beautiful day in Gardenwood Park and I was ready to sell my crafts. Corrinne and Olivia looked cute in their new outfits. Every project was tagged and priced. And free gift labels were made as thank you gifts to buyers. I was surprised by the visit from my family. Their support gives me added confidence. DLC Clan Rocks....(DeLaCruz) Family Diamond Springs Gardenwood Park Civic League I have been working hard to prepare for this year's Christmas in July Craft Show. I have several new dresses for Corrinne's Fashions. I have ordered boxes for my Christmas ornaments. I also plan to make Christmas tags for my gifts. I am excited to offer my wristlets and key fobs. I think the flashlight and whistle add another dimension to them. I have been promoting personal safety to women. I have decided not to display everything I made, but to concentrate on a few items.
Wish me luck and big SALES............. My sister, Christine, retired from teachering school in June 2014 after 39 years. I remember when she graduated from high school and our family went to a special dinner at a popular seafood restaurant. That was a big deal for us, because we lived a simple life. I won’t tell what year out of respect for all over 50 years old, but you can do the math.(lol)
Most of you know, that we are second generation Filipino, so that as each one of us graduated high school, it was a big occasion for our family. Present day, we have gone from our original family to my group of brothers and sisters, to our children, and now our children’s children. Here is a glimpse of us gathering at a Japanese Restaurant for dinner. We could not be seated until our entire party was there. We filled the foyer, making the restaurant looking full. J.J. , the young blonde fella, loved the show. He laughed and smiled while the cook performed his tricks. Of course we took turns trying to catch a piece of chicken that the cook tossed to us. It was very funny. Handcrafted Doors by Glen Silloway Little Chapel at Fort Story Base Virginia Beach, VA. Glen and I met through a mutual friend in the 1980's. We lost contact with our friend for many years. Often we joked, about reconnecting with her and said we had a few unpleasant words for introducing us.(lol). In our over 30 years together, we have had our good and bad times, but have kept our lives together. Our proudest accomplishment has been our son, Jacob. He has grown into an amazing husband and father of three. Glen and I joke about his name Glen, and the spelling with 1 "n" or "2". We are in favor of the 1 "n" spelling. Because Glen isn't a popular name, we groan out-loud everytime we hear it. Then, we have to find out if its a 1 or 2 n Glen. We both enjoy working with our hands and creating using any material on hand. Glen, is the most skilled carpenter whose jobs reflect his insight into design and function. If you have loved or lived with a creative person, it can be a challenge for the other partner. I am proud of his commitment to his clients and just wish he would work on our house. You know its a good thing he is not a shoemaker, because I would be barefoot.... P.S. I love you honey. ( He thinks honey is bee poop.) 0 Comments The weather was warm and sunny today. Spring is just around the corner and my neighbors are beginning to come outside to enjoy the fresh air. I decided to take a break from crafting, so I went for a walk. As I rounded the corner, I saw two Filipino women on the opposite side of the road. One woman crossed the street to speak to me. They began telling me in broken English, that they went out for a walk, and got lost. Neither women had a cell phone and were unable to call their family for help. I brought them to my house and called their family for them. The relief was apparent on both their faces. They smiled and thanked me. I loaded the 2 women and hubby, Glen, into my car and drove the women home. I have the car seat in one of the seats in the back, so Glen sat on top of the baby seat. The women looked at him and didn't know what to think. but that is another story. I will save that one for later. I am not sure how they ended up in my neighbor, but I am glad I was there to help them. |
